About Savour Kilkenny
Savour Kilkenny is now in it’s fourth year. Our festival takes place from Friday October 22nd to Monday October 25th 2010 over the October Bank Holiday weekend, a wonderfully atmospheric time of year for food-lovers when we dip back into the recipe books for comfort food to share in darkening Autumnal evenings with family and friends.
It’s a festival with a true community heart run by a voluntary committee of Kilkenny people who are passionate about food. Growing it, making it, cooking it, sharing it and eating it – all will be celebrated this year in a rainbow programme.
Our festival takes place throughout the richly historic county of Kilkenny, one of Ireland's most popular tourist destinations with a medieval city at its heart surrounded by picturesque towns and villages. Kilkenny offers a unique blend of heritage and cosmopolitan chic. It is renowned as a cultural hotspot and has a particularly vibrant craft designer/maker community with plenty of working design studios for you to explore. If you’re reading this, the chances are you agree that food is one of life’s simplest yet richest pleasures. In a world that’s changed so much and so quickly, it connects us to nature and to each other. Supporting local food businesses is also a very real way that we can create sustainable local economies and reduce our collective carbon footprint.
We’re lucky to have an exceptionally vibrant and creative food culture here and Savour Kilkenny is a chance to throw open our doors and invite you (and the rest of the world!) to join our celebration.
The people working to bring this to you (our committee members) are:
Ger Mullally, Glanbia Property (Chair)
Edward Hayden, Secretary
Annette Stapleton, Treasurer
Rhoda Nolan, Rosquil House
Dorcas Barry
Lucy Smyth
Ian Brennan, Clubhouse Hotel
Mark Gaffney, Ormonde Hotel
Anne Neary, Ryeland House
Siobhan O’Dwyer, Threesixty
