The 13th Savour Kilkenny Food Festival gets underway in just 10 weeks’ time, with a jam-packed programme of events including live cookery demonstrations, engaging talks, one-day retreats, children’s events and workshops. Taking place in this beautiful medieval city in Ireland’s Ancient East, Savour Kilkenny is one festival that you don’t want to miss this October. 1.VEGAN DINNER WITH ROZ PURCELL
If you’re vegan or looking to opt for more meals without meat, don’t miss the Vegan Night with Roz Purcell on Friday 25th October. This event is a 100% vegan culinary experience, where Roz will discuss her favourite vegan dishes and overall approach to food. Inspired by Roz’s ethos, the menu is devised by Harper’s Head Chef, Cormac Vesey and Helen Costelloe of acclaimed Kilkenny Café, ‘The Cutting Vedge’. 2. MEDIEVAL MILE BANQUET
Experience an evening of delicious dining, music and history at Kilkenny’s stunning Medieval Mile Museum on Saturday 26th October at 7pm. Soak up the special atmosphere of an era where knights were bold, ladies were fair and witches were on the run, as characters from Kilkenny’s medieval past welcome you to this magnificent space. Meet Sir William Marshal, Dame Alice Kyteler and be intrigued by entertaining stories, song and music. Feast on delicious medieval-style dishes prepared with great care by Chef Gerard Dunne and his team from Butler House, using the very best of local ingredients. 3. KATHRYN THOMAS – PURE RESULTS FIT FIX EVENT
If you’re looking for a lifestyle change, then Kathryn Thomas’ Fit Fix event at Savour Kilkenny is for you! TV presenter and owner of Pure Results, Kathryn Thomas and her team will run a one-day-only ‘Fit Fix’ event in the grounds of Kilkenny Castle on Saturday 26th October. Expect a jam-packed day of fun, food and fitness in the heart of Kilkenny. Tickets for this event are limited and are expected to sell-out. 4. UP CLOSE WITH CLODAGH MCKENNA
If you’re passionate about food and pairing the perfect wines with each dish, then don’t miss Up Close with Clodagh, which combines delicious light bites, fine wine and some of Clodagh’s food secrets. Wine connoisseur, Owen Murphy from Wines Direct, will also share insights into the world of wine, treating you to some delicious ‘vintages’ to match the scrumptious bites. 5. AUSTRALIAN BEACH BBQ WITH THE ‘4 INGREDIENTS CHEF’ FROM THE SUNSHINE COAST
One of the highlights of this year’s festival is the Australian Beach BBQ with Kim McCosker, creator of the ‘4 Ingredients’ concept and best-selling author of 34 cookbooks. Kim is travelling all the way from The Sunshine Coast to be in Ireland for Savour Kilkenny this October bank holiday weekend, so we’re hoping she’ll bring some sunshine!
