Meet the panel:
Dr Catherine Corcoran – Food security in the Horn of Africa – the flow of effect from Europe
and climate change. Catherine is a Development Specialist and Lecturer with the Technical
University of Shannon. She has also worked as Country Director and Programme Manager
with Concern in Ethiopia, Sudan, Mozambique and in Southern America and Asia. Catherine
areas of interest include justice and equity across gender equality, climate change and the
concepts of growth and prosperity in development context.
Declan Rice – Rural Development Programme. How can the programme promote activity at
a local level for greater food security that’s conscious of climate change? Declan is the CEO
of Kilkenny LEADER Partnership and has 25 plus years’ experience in the Local development
Sector.
Janine Kennedy – Food production and consumption trends. Real questions in terms of
health/wellbeing? A more conscious consumer – climate/food equity? Or just trendy?
Journalist and Chef Janine’s areas of interest include the politics of food and food security;
gender equity in the food industry and agriculture.
